The Global Light engineered  button GL5802 (made to replace OEM M06139A001 Grade Select Button Assembly) is the plastic push-button your customer presses to choose fuel grade on Gilbarco Encore 500S and 700S dispensers. Internally it consists of:

• Plastic plunger molded into the fascia

• Metal coil spring that returns the button after each press

• Magnet embedded at the plunger’s tip that actuates a reed or Hall-effect sensor on the PCB

The Grade Select Button assembly M06139A001 Gilbarco fails primarily because its moving parts and materials are subjected to constant mechanical and environmental stress. With thousands of presses each day, the coil spring gradually loses its tension or may even fracture, and the plastic plunger becomes embrittled and prone to chipping as repeated impacts combine with UV exposure and extreme temperature swings.

Vibration and impact can also dislodge the tiny embedded magnet, preventing the sensor from detecting a complete actuation, while fuel vapors, dust or cleaning solvents that penetrate the boot seal can gum up the plunger mechanism and corrode the spring or sensor contacts. Over time, these factors combine to produce sticking Gilbarco Encore pump buttons, loss of return action or a complete lack of response.
